Between
October 1, 2007 and December 31, 2008, Committee for Plaquemines
Recovery (CPR) proposes to construct a minimum of seventeen (17)
new homes for residents of the parish, who would otherwise be unable
to have safe, secure, sanitary, and functional housing as a result
of their loss. This goal is in addition to the funded rebuild projects
already in process, which are managed by the limited, existing
rebuild organizations working in the parish.
Volunteer work crews are needed to carry out this rebuilding
initiative. CPR is recruiting from a network of service
groups, particularly from churches and other faith-based organizations.
Each crew will be led by a crew leader. Housing plans have been
secured and foundations are being poured.

Volunteer Bunkhouse.
CPR has three bunk houses (each can accommodate up to 24 workers)
to house volunteers. In addition, several churches have housing
accommodations for volunteers. This will eliminate the daily travel
time for volunteer crews to go from the volunteer housing to the
work sites. The average cost charged to volunteers or their organizations
would be $20/week per person. Volunteers will also be responsible
for their own meals; however an equipped kitchen is available for
cooking.
