I was in Louisiana in January of 2009 with a group from the Lynchburg Baptist Association. I\'m 17 years old, and going to Port Sulphur was definitely an eye opening experience that I will never forget. After working on Mr. VanDo\'s house and seeing what he has compared to what I have, made me feel incredibly guilty, but at the same time blessed by what God has given me to serve others. I got to spend my birthday down there, and that was awesome. It was so neat, and yet heartbreaking to listen to the peoples stories, and how much faith they have, knowing that God will provide a way. So if you\'re someone who is thinking about going on a trip to Port Sulphur, it is a great exprience that will not be forgotten, and will forever leave memories in your heart. Going on this trip really made me give up of my self and totally give my self to God and let Him use me to glorify Him! I would love to live down there and work on houses everyday! It is a life changing experience to serve the less fortunate, and they definitely need our help as much as we can give!

This was my first volunteer trip ever for the Lord. I came with our church from New Jersey. We planned to finish 5 homes. I am not sure how many we completed, but we were extremely blessed.

I took a group down in September 08 and we had a good trip. It was hot. We didn\'t get to meet the homeowner, but did meet her brother. We are from Bristol, Abingdon and Marion,VA. Our work site is not on this page.

Worked in the Parish in Jan. 2009, worked on Mr. VanDo\'s home. I came with the group Lynchburg Baptist Assocation form Lynchburg, Virginia. I have never experenced anything like this before. I am 19, and to see the way people were living without homes, just living in small boxes just broke my heart. As i was working on Mr. VanDo\'s Home, i had a sence of God\'s Serventhood, that i have never felt before. when i came home, there was a part of me missing. i feel guilty for the way that i live now, Thank God i had a chance to make someones dream come true!!
